Box Hill - Gravestone - Tombstone of Major Peter Labelliere.
A stone plinth marks the spot where Major Peter Labelliere was buried head first on the top of Box Hill.
The inscription on the headstone reads Major Peter Labelliere aged 75. An eccentric resident of Dorking was buried here head downwards 11th July 1800.
He was later reburied in consecrated ground.
